PG FAQ.

Wow, thanks for all the well-wishes and internet squealing. I should announce my pregnancy, like, every day.

Here are the questions that everyone has asked me so far:
1. Have you been sick?

I started feeling nauseous from the very beginning and have rocked it pretty continuously since. It wouldn’t piss me off so much if all my old food friends hadn’t turned on me. Oh, cheeseburgers, why have you forsaken me? I can think of nothing more vile than a cheeseburger. Ok, yes I can: chicken in any form. I am also averse to tomato sauce. Once you kill off the cheeseburgers of the world, and any dish that contains chicken and/or tomato sauce, well, you’re left with eating a lot of Ro-tel. Also, sweet items — my pride and joy, my raison d’etre — are the equivalent of dog poo. Festering, steamy dog poo. Are you nauseous now? THAT’S HOW I FEEL ALL THE TIME.

2. Are you going to find out if it’s a girl or a boy?

Yes. While I admire those who can hold off, I am not one of them. I am a planner. I like to know as much information as possible as soon as I can know it. When our doctor asked if we wanted to find out, Larry said, “Yes. Sally hates surprises.”

3. Have you decided on a name?

Short answer: no. Long answer: pretty much every ridiculous word I come across, I say is the baby’s name. Chartreuse, for example, was yesterday’s name of the day (but spelled Shartrews). Larry is fond of telling people the baby will be called Julio. My mother is pissed that she can’t get a straight answer out of me, but right now I am fairly obsessed with the fact that I am nauseous all the time, and so something insignificant like the baby’s name is not really occupying my mind. Although fear not, once the sex is determined, I am sure the topic will be up for discussion. See above: re: being a planner.

In other news, there are a lot of really dumb pregnant ladies out there. While I have a ton of books, I still like comparing the info online, and on some website someone posted this:

MY DREAMZ FEEL LIK A REAL HORROR M0VIE! LIKE IM REALLY THERE. I KEEP HAVING SCARY DREAMZ. DO MY BABY SHARE THEM WIT ME?

People, answer her! Do her baby share them wit her? ANSWER NOW BEFORE MORE DREAMZ HAPPENZ.

We had our top 5 baby names narrowed down but hadn’t really settled on one until the day she was born. But we also kept our top 5 a secret from most people, because we didn’t want to hear everyone’s opinion.

So when is your due date?

oh, I see an LOLPreggerz website that needs to be made…

I agree with Poobou–keep it a secret! We had five names picked per sex–we didn’t know the gender until he was born. We didn’t want people to pick their favorites, or say, when we switched names last minute, “But I thought you we going to name the baby Peabo.” Less headache for us. It all about you guys now anyway–milk it.

Yeah – do keep the name to yourself. Baby names are one of those things that people feel completely comfortable telling you their honest opinions on, whether you want to hear them or not. When I was pregnant with my second we told everyone the baby was going to be named Shoehorn after I heard Rachel Griffiths names her son Banjo.

    It’s settled! Peabo Shoehorn Nordan-Ferrari!

I commend the “Peabo Shoehorn-ization”! Rock, rock on!

So of course after I read this I googled the dreamz quote. She wrote something after about pregnant women going out during full moons and screwing up their baby’s skin. Unless you wear a red scarf around your belly, of course. Of course. Pregnant people are crazy!
