Double Dose of Gross.

Written by sally @ 2:00 pm — Section: Uncategorized

I went to a meeting this morning. There was coffee brewing, and little styrofoam cups to put the coffee in, and a bowl full of various sweeteners, and A CAN OF EVAPORATED MILK TO USE AS CREAM OH MY GOD.

Am I missing something? Is this yet another trend that has passed me by?

In other news, during the meeting someone said, “Jackson is the hotbed of white supremacy” in the same offhand manner one might say “Jackson is a city of 180,000 people.” I tried to will myself to burst into flames, but it didn’t happen.

I totally thought this was the new trend in coffee:

This happened where I work, too. But I didn’t think that it was a new trend. I thought it was just one of the many commonsense tips that I missed out on while growing up as a child of freaks. Seriously. The evaporated milk was introduced as creamer, and I said, “Oh. I thought that evaporated milk was just like powdered milk.” Disheartening, isn’t it?

You know, I guess it wouldn’t have grossed me out had it been in a little pitcher or something, but the sight of coffee pot, assorted sweeteners, CAN OF ANYTHING looked really gross.

    But: hotbed of white supremacy?

I can think of at least one or two more places that are far more racist than Jxn. But that was a very odd comment to make. Was the person who said it a racist? Or was it said by someone of a non-white persuasion?

i think it’s the use of the article “the” as if it is the epicenter of all hotbeds of white supremacy.

and it’s not. the midwest has been kicking our asses in unchallenged hatism since the late eighties.

you should try it in your coffee next time, sally. it is pretty good. also, evaporated milk in coffee is a cuban tradition, so jackson is not the racist hotbed as someone suggested. you have multicultural coffee condiments.

what prompted this person to claim that jackson is the hotbed of white supremacy? i agree with vendela. it seems white supremacists tend to be active where there’s mostly white folks to begin with.

I’d agree with the midwest comment. After living here for three years I can honestly say that race relations are beter here than they are up north. Milwaukee is and always has been a racially divided city. Detroit has issues, too. And outside of major cites, the midwest is, like, 98% white.
